, A contract has been Jet for sinking a winze from the Bird in Hand shaft, and the men are at, work. Another contract has been let for extending the cross-cut to strike the Bird in Hand reef. Tender* were called up to one o'clock to-day for taking the block on tb~e No 2 reef, between the Nos. 4 and 5 level on tribute, but the result will not be known till Monday. The sinking of the shaft will be finished next week, and as soon as it is completed the opening out of the chamber will be started. ■ • ■
