Friday. Sir Donald McLean died about four this afternoon. Parliament is further prorogued to the 13th of April. I Mr Donald Reid is appointed Minister of Lands and Immigration, and •Mr I Ormond Minister of Public Works. This day. The Hon. George McLean will be the ! New Zealand delegate at the cable conj ference to be held at Sydney next month. It is understood that the Government are averse to any large expenditureonbehalf of J a second cable, and will decline to commit j the colony to any outlay until Parliament i has an opportunity of expressing its : will. Several members of the Ministry will proceed to Napier by the Stella for the purpose of attending Sir Donald McLean's funeral. Tenders are called for the erection of a new theatre at Te Aro. It is notified that Collectors of Customs have been appointed to issue publicans' and»other licenses in the various parts of the colony.
