WELLINGTON.
This day. Mr Broomhall has arrived ia Welling-, ton overland from Napier and Tauranga. The letter from the Auckland Waste Lands Board only reached him at Crofton. while inspecting operations at the Fielding block. It is understood he agrees to the resolutions of the Board as to purchase, deposit, and cultivation of one fifth of the block in five years.
Rodolph Laurent, a youth of seventeen, for a criminal assault on a little girl, was sentenced this morning at the Supreme Court to eight years' imprisonment and twenty lashes. .
The Ae;ent-General, under date December 27, telegraphs the despatch of the following shipments of immigrants:— Oxford, 239 for Auckland; Fernglen, 254 for Napier; Northampton, 334 for Westland and Wellington.
