The conference of the members of the Borough and County Councils has been fixed for Monday next. The first meeting of the County Council will be held in the Grahamstown Court House on Tuesday nest.

We are sorry to hear that Dr Payne, who has been' ailing for some time past, has lately become so much worse that he had to proceed yesterday to Auckland with a friend, so as to be under the im-mediate-care of Dr Kenderdine.
