Applications were then called for, and out of nine applications received, Mr Henry Menary was appointed, at a salary of thirty shillings per week. This reduction was made on account of none of the applicants being experienced wardsmen. Mr Bagnall said the House Committee had understood that the 35s per week was to be given to an experienced wardsman. None of the applicants were experienced. The report was. then adopted on the motion of Mr Gudgeon. ' ! '>'■ tbeasubeb's kepobt. Mr Eenshaw read the Hon. Mr McCullough proposed that the report be received and adopted, and the accounts paid. This was carried. HOTTBE SURGEON'S BEPOBT. The report of the House Surgeon was read as follows :—" I have the honor to report for the committee that on the 30th of November ultimo there remained in hospital 16 patients, that during the month of December there were 11 admislions, 9 were discharged, and upon the 31st of DeceinoTar 18 remained under treatment. 'Analysing the cases in the .^jiouse, there are 4 cases rheumatism, 3 2h.epa|ijtis, 2 paralysis,2 ulcers, « 1 chro^^^en^^firifttis, 1 phthisis, 1 scald, Ijcrofula7 S||imaturia, 1 scalp wound. The newly^^^^inted wardsman has entered on h^^fitties, which he performs most sati»f|cfßrTly. The cook having to '-enter the||pfipds as a patient, one of the applicants for the situation of wardsMnan has been acting temporarily as cook, and seems thoroughly efficient. The patients have to thant many kind friends who generously contributed to provide substantial! dinners for Christmas and New Year's Days.—Wm. A* Pebston, M.D., Surgeon." Mr Gudgeon moved, and Mr Ahier seconded that the report be adopted. Carried. The matters referring to the appointment of the cook was referred to the House Committee. • A vote of thanks, on the motion of Mr McCullough, was accorded to Mrs Perßton and the friends who contributed, for their exertions in providing a Christmas dinner for the patients. A vote of thanks was also accorded to Misses Brady and Cassin for their exertions in providing a New Year's dinner for the patients. In answer to a question by Mr Bagnall the secretary said that there had been some misapprehension with regard to these donations. He had thought that they were just ordinary donations, and not for any special- purpose, and had given tickets as he would to ordinary subscribers. Miss Cassin had asked for tickets. Mr Een»haw said that he Had authorised Mr Aitken to give a dinner to the patients, and as money had come in from outside sources the cost to the Hospital was only 19s: The £5 odd had gone to the funds of the Hospital. Mr McCullough said it was not usual to give a vote of thanks and give tickets of admission also. The matter then dropped. Mr Gudgeon said that as this was the last meeting of this Committee he might mention that the Hospital had not a ref*§tory or dining room, aud he thought it was a very necessary thing. Perhaps the future committee would keep it in mind and try to raise funds for that purpose. JDEMONSTBATION COMMITTEE'S BEPOBT. The following report was then read :— *' Your committee have the honour to. report that, in order to more fully secure the support and co-operation of the friendly societies in the matter of the hospital demonstration, an invitation was sent to each society to appoint a delegate to act with the members of the committee. With one exception, this was done. Ihe net proceeds of the fete amounts to £72 4s 9d, as shown by the accompanying balance-sheet. The thanks of the committee are due to the members of the various societies and their delegates for the hearty interest taken by them in the demonstration, and also to Mr Wm. Robinson and Mr W. H. Jenkins for their assistance at the sports ; to Sergt.major Grant for his services in marshalling the procession; and to the Thames Naval, Hibernian, and Thames Scottish bands for their gratuitous services. In conclusion, your committee are of opinion that it would be more satisfactory to the members of friendly societies, and add to the success of these demonstrations, if the whole management was taken by the societies. Thos.

Wayth Gudgeon, Chairman. Jan. 3, 1877." Mr Gudgeon made some remarks concerning the reason why the amount in favor of the Hospital was not larger although the receipts had been larger than last year's. Mr Frater said that the receipts were too much in excess of the amount going to the Hospital. The advertising account for instance was far top large. Mr Gudgeon said that the publicans had said they would not bid for the booths unless the sports w.ere more largely advertised. Mr Bagnall said that this year the committe had given £37 for prizes, and last year they had only given about £5. If some inducement was not offered for sports, none would enter. Last year he had heard complaints made that the sports were not good enough. He then referred to the refreshments for the band, and said that these were necessary. rJhe bands had given their seiviccs gratuitously. Mr Renshaw moved that the report be adopted. This was seconded by Mr Macnab and carried. Mr Bagnall moved that the secretary send letters to the different Friendly Societies and others who had assisted, thanking them for their exertions in making the demonstration a success. Mr McCullough moved that tickets be sent to the different Friendly Societies taking part in the demonstration, proportionately, after the manner agreed upon last year. This was seconded by Mr Gudgeon. Carried. The Secretary, suggested that the bands also get tickets. Mr Frater said he did not see that the societies were entitled to tickets for the £72 odd. They were entitled to some tickets, but not for tickets proportionate to the sum g^ing to the Hospital. Mr McCullough added to his resolution " that the bands get five tickets each, and the remainder be divided amongst the societies." lhe motion was then carried. Mr Eenshaw moved that the Secretary write to the managers of the various churches asking them if the 24th February would be suitable for the Hospital Sunday collections. J.t was then resolved that the President draw up the annual report and make the necessary arrangements for the annuaj meeting. . Mr Maccab moved that the sum of £2 2s be paid to Mr Dunn for the use of the room for holding the meetings in, and also that a vote of thanks be accorded to that gentleman. This was carried. Mr Frater proposed that the sum of £5 be paid to Mr O'Connell, the retiring wardsman. • Mr Dalies suggested that the sum be larger. O'Connell had been their servant for over six years, arid had worn himself out in their service. ... ' . Mr Frater said that they were only the trustees of the Hospital, and the public might not be satisfied with a larger expenditure. Of late tb>y had collected a good deal for the Hospital from the public. ; Mr Davies proposed that he get one month's salary (£7.) After this had been seconded the motion and amendment were put to the meeting, and each secured 'five votes. Ihe President gave his casting rote in favor of the motion, which was therefore declared carried.

HOUSE COMMITTEE. Messrs Mulligan, Mcllhone, Brown, and Comer were appointed House Committee for the ensuing term of office. A vote af thanks to the President concluded the'meeting.
