NOTICE, SECTION 121 (!) of "The Stamp Act, 1875," provides that every person taking po: Begßiou of, or receiving or paying any moneys belonging to, or accruing from, the property (realty os well as personalty) of any person dying on and af er Ist January next, without having first filed the required-state-ment and paid the duties assessed thereon, shall forfeit a eum not exceeding £500. . ••. Whether probate or letters of administration are granted by any Court or not, a statement of ail property is list .be filed and duties paid before the properly or any part thereof of any deceased person is in any manner dealt with. On payment of the proper duties, the pro-. bate or letters received from the Court, or the ' statement of property in other cases, will be stamped and delivered to the person entitled thereto. Forma of this statement (L) msy be obtatained at any Stamp Office, at the offices of " Registrars and Clerks .of the Supreme and District Courts, and from the Postmaster Depositaries throughout the colony, from whom also may be obtained further information. January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at* Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within one month after execation without a fine. ' Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrekerp, and ethers interested, are re' commended to forward, without delay, such forms of transfer as they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the usual ream's!•ion and receipt irom the Bank «f New Zea. land for amount thereof, less the authorised discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as follow:— • . " 47. (1.) Except where express provision is made to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stamps only." 'l 102. No transfer of any share or shares of or m the stock or funds of any corporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped. " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the purchaser or transferee is inserted therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any person executes a sale-note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, un* less the nsme of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less than £20 or more than £100; and, if any such instrument is so made or rfgmd, it shall be wholly and absolutely void'and inoperative, and shall in no case be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particulars afterwards; and or trans, fernng such share shall SofW divested of hit interest therein, but shajl remain Habl« thereon ss if he had never sold or disposed vt \k\. the same.
