NEWCASTLE.

December 20.

Last night Mrs Parker; of Lambton, mother of three well-known and respected residents, was nearly burned to death in her own house. She still lingers, but is almost unconscious. As she is 65 years of age, very little hopes are entertained for her recovery. She was alone when her dress caught fire. A man drawing water at the time threw some over her, as she ran out of the house, which checked the flames.

Two Chinamen, named Ah Chong and Foo Hung, were drowned opposite Mr Williamson's, Belmont Lake, Macquarrie, through the upsetting of their boat during a heavy squall yesterday.
