MR STEPHENSON AT THE AMERICAN THEATRE.
Mr S. Stephenson, the "democratic candidate" for Parliamentary honours, addressed the electors at.Butt's Theatre, Shortland, last night. There were about 100 persons present, and Mr J. Heron was -called to the chair on the motion of Mr Joshua Jackson.
The Chairman said that he did not wish to be identified with Mr Stephenson, but he would give.him (Mr..Stephenson) his support if that gentleman's'"Views coincided with his own. He would now call on. Mr , St»phenson to address the

He referred to his colonial experience, and explained his views on the various questions of the day as fully and yet,as concisely as possible.
