tion to any improvement in the Shortland Cemetery. The writer has actual knowledge of many who refrained from voting for Davies on this account alone. Were the site of the cemetery as unsuitable as he assumes it to be, there are still over a thousand graves there, and perhaps a thousand people are interested in seeing, that the road and the place are not wholly neglected.
