Mr Speight is greatly amused at the statement that Sir George Grey's committee contemplate bringing him out. There is na truth whatever in the rumor. He has not the slightest intention of becoming a candidate. It is distinctly understood that no attempt will be made to influence the Thames electors in the choice of a representative to support Sir George Grey in his efforts for the district although Mr Carpenter is reckoned as the right man.
