-The work of breaking-out'thel irott 'lode willl be completed this week. The whole of it will be torn from the intermediate level;' the slow rate of increaser to the water enabling this to be done. On No. 3 level Wo. 3 reef is for the present abandoned ; operations are continued on No. 4 at both ends of the drive ; the reef is not large at the north-east end, and has deviated from its course in the opposite direction, and apparently gone off to the footside of the drive. No. 1 reef intersected ,by a cross-cut from near the Queen of Beauty boundary shows a capital face of stone some 2 feet 6 inches wide, but towards the east has been pinched up by a hard bar; this, however, ■has peen got. through) and the reef is now making again ; shows a little gold and general good crushing stuff, v This lode will be the mainstay of the mine until the water difficulty is settled, enabling opera;.tipjas to be resumedLin/the bottom,.; After this week crushing at the battery will only be periodical, until <he.reef is more fully opened up, when the supply of quartz will be greater.
