RESIDENT MAGISTEATE'S COURT
THIS DAY.
(BeforeE. W. Pucker and W. A. Perston, Esqs., J.P.'s.) BBEACH OF THB PEACE.
Richard McCoid (apprehended on warrant, for disobeying a summons), was charged that he was guilty of a breach of the peace, by fighting in a public place, to wit Burke street, Grahamstown, on the 16th of August. 1875. Defendant pleaded guilty. He said he had a wife and family dependent on him, and hoped the Bench would deal leniently with him. ,
The offence with, which defendant was charged was committed in August, and the accused had left the place after service of the summons, turning up again only yesterday. Mr Bullen said the other defendant who had been concerned in the assault case had been bound over to keep the peace and ordered to pay costs, £112s 6d. Present defendant had perhaps exaggerated the offence by disobeying a sum* mons, or the Bench might deal similarly with him. . ■ .
Ordered; to find sureties of the peace for three months, himself in, £20 and .one person in £10, and; to pay costs. Court adjourned.
