Dr Kilgour has a long colonial experience; he is a gentleman of considerable attainments, and he is no stranger to political life. We believe he would stand a good chance of election if the number of candidates spoken of go to the poll. He should make an excellent representative.

The boiler purchased for the Queen of the May, formerly used at the Central Italy mine,-was taken along tlie street today on a trolley, drawn by a team of eleven fine horses. South matches at previous competitions for Colonial Prizes will be permitted to use such rifles in the firing for the Government Prizes, provided they have been in no way tampered with since their presentation, to the respective winners.
