Mr Travers' address to the Wellington electors is published this morning. • He opposes the continuance of Provincialism and the dismemberment of the colony. The Times declares for Messrs Pierce and Hunter as against Messrs Gisborne and Travers.
It is announced that after the 4th prox. the name of The Tribune will be The Evening Argus, and the firm Gillon, Kent and Waters.
To-day Edwards commenced his feat of walking 150 miles in 24s hours.
Charles Lavery has been committed for trial at Wanganui for attempted rape on a girl 14 years of age.
