POLITICAL GOSSIP.
Mr Neill McLean has announced himself as a candidate for the Coleridge district, making nine in the field for this seat. Mr Cathcart, one of the candidates, addressed the electors of Coleridge at Bakaia last night, and lectured in favor of the complete Abolition of the provinces. Mr W. S. Moorhouse offers himself as a candidate for one of the Christchurch seats, and Mr E. J. Wakefield is canvassing for himself. Mr E./J. Stevens and' Mr S.P. Andrews, late M.P.C.'s for the city, ; are also candidates for the Christchurch
seat;' Mr J. F. Fisher, late >M<P.C. for Northcote, is likely to oppose Sir Oracroft Wilson for that district.' Requisitions are in circulation, asking Mr J Lumsden to stand for InvercargiU, and Mr Joyce, editor of the Southern News, for Wallace. They are both' well supported by the Provincial party. A rumor is current, on the best authority, that in the event 1' of his Honor the Superintendent, being'! elected as one of the iDuneain members for the Assembly, Mr John Joyce, the well-known solicitor, will receive' a nn-inerously-signed requisition soliciting him to represent Port Chalmers. '
