Congregational Church Soiree.

The anniversary soiree of the Congregational Church, Mary street, was held last evening. There was a good attendance, including many members of other denominations. After tea was over a public meeting was held, presided over by the Rev. R. Laishley, pastor of the Church, and addresses were delivered by the Rev. James Hill (Presbyterian) J. Crump (Wesleyan), J. Hinton (Baptist). Hit Worship the Mayor was als.o on the platform. In the intervals between the addresses some of Sankey's hymns were sung, and Mr Laishley gave a sketch of the revivalist, Mr Moody's life. Votes of thanks were passed to the ladie3 for presiding afc the tea tables^ to tho choir, and to the chairman, and the meeting was closed with prayer.
