W. Fbaheh, Warden. SCHEDULE. No. • I.—Lato Licensed Holding, No. 55, known as the John. o'Groats Claim; luto licensee, the John o'Groats Gold Mining Company (Limited). Area, fire acres two roods and twenty two pprches, more or less; situ<ited at Pukehiuau Creek. Bounded on tho north by supposed unoccupied ground, on the east by the Kose and Shamrock Licensed Holding, on tho south by supposed unoccupied ground, and on tho west by lata Prince Llewellyn lease. ; 1378 .. "STAMP ACT;,- 1875." BTLLS OF LADING AND RECEIPTS IN LIEU THEREOF. IT is hfreby notified, that, after the Ist of January next, the use of Impressed Stamps on Bills of Lading is compulsory. Such, documents must, after that date, be •written upon paper p-eviously impressed at the Head Office, and cannot be stamped after the execution thereof. Ifc is requested, therefore, that Merchants, Shipping Agents, and others concerned, will, without delay, forward to this office such forms as they may requ;re to be impressed, accompanied by the uiual requisition and receipt of the Bank of New Zealand for the amount, less the authorised discount. ■•■••■ Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. . • . The provisions of the Act bearing on this point are as follow :— ■ " 47. Except where; express provision is | made to the contrary, all duties are to be denoted by impressed stompß only." " 62. (1.) A Bill of Lading includes also any receipt given in lieu thereof from the master, mate, owner, or agent of any resstl, and is not to be stamped after the execution thereof. . (2.) Every person who makf s or executes any Bill of Lnding not duly stamped shall forfeit a sum not exceeding £50." SCHEDULE. Head Office, Stamp Department, Wellington, 29th October, 1875. "STAMP ACT, 1875." TRANSFERS OF SHARES. "I T is hereby notified, that, after the Ist of J. January next, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or <» Deputy Commissioner within one month after execut:on without a fine. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrokers, and o'hers interested, are recommended t» forward, without delay, such forms of transfer as they may requiro to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisition and receipt from the Bank of New Zealand for amount thereof, less the authorized discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. The provisions of tho Ajst relating hereto are as follow :— "47. (1.) Except whsre express provision is made to the contrary, all duties nre to be denoted by impressed stamps only." " 102. No transfer of any share or shares of or in the stock or funds of any corporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporafion, company, or society, unless such transfer is duly stamped.: " 103. No instrument of sale or transfer of any share or shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the nnme of tho purchaser or transferee ia inserted therein at the time of or before the execution of the instrument of sale or transfer ; and, if any per«on executes a pale«cote, tramfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, un~ lees the ntme of the purchaser is inserted therein at tho time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less thin £20 or more than £100; and, if any such instrument is so made or signed, it shall ba wholly and absolutely void and inoperative, and shall in no caso be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particulars afterwards ; and the person selling or transferring such share shall not be divested of his interest, therein, but shall remain liable thereon os if he had never sold or disposed of tho same. And if such person is a licensed eharebroker, his license shall, on any conviction under this section, bj absolutely forfeited, and ho shall not thereafter be qualified to act as a broker, or to have a fresh license issued to him. , "104. No sharebroker, auctioneer, commission agent, or any other person shall bo entitled to any. brokerage, commission, or any other fee or reward in respect of the. sale or Iransfer of any such share, unless the instrument of sale or transfer is filed up witl* all necessary particulars to make it a complete instrument, and is duly stamped.
