MOANATAIRI.
The gold from the fortnightly run melted to 361 ounces 17 dwts. This may be considered a good omen. For a long time the returns have been poor, but owing to the manner in which the ground is now open, large blocks are available, in which No. 2 reef, of old celebrity, can be taken out from the battery level, close home to the slide, and will furnish excellent crushing stuff for a long time, having a depth of about 170 feet to take out with several hundred feet in length. A fair show of gold is to be seen in various i parts of the reef,' which is of a soft mullocky character interspersed with bands of quartz. Heldt's reef has not turned out to expectations as yet, but has improved lately. The prospect now before this company is decidedly better than has existed for a long period.
