": V ■"'■: Monday. ' iThe principal matter of interest just :juow is the getting up of the Tairua Company's machinery. Mr Gallagher has set allidoubt at rest in a practical manner, haying conveyed some portion of the plant to within a mile of the Prospectors' Claim. To-morrow I hear some fourteen men are to turn out and lend Gallagher some assistance in road making, as none can be had from the Government.
The ring which has nearly ruined this field is nearly smashed up by recent disclosures. It was a happy idea sending up Mr Ehrenfried to inspect the Prospectors' claim. There are some other pieces of work here which want daylight letting into them. Directors not in the "swim " might do worse than pay a visit here, although the journey is not the pleasantest in the world. •■ ■; ' The new track is a dead failure, it being several miles longer than the old one, and no improvement in other respects. I am told that yesterday the manager of the Golden Arrow washed some splendid prospects out—in fact more than prospects. * The manager is an experienced miner, and he has great faith in the mine.
