A woman named Drake, one of the immigrants per Merope, bad been committed
to the Lunatic A sylum by the [Resident Magistrate, and was left in charge of her husband in the barracks, awaiting removal. At 8 o'clock last night Drake went out for a moment, when his wife locked him out; * On the door bping broken open, she was found to have killed her son of tyro years old, almost severing the head from the. body with a razor, and to have cut her own throat severely. She is in a dying state. This is the second case of lunacy from theMerbpe. ' - •■ o Mr Stafford and Mr Wakefield offer themselves for Timaru and Geraldine respectively, in this morning's paper.
