UNITED PUMPING ASSOCIATION.
Sinking the main shaft continues, and fair progress is made, the country being favourable. There • are now several stringers of white quartz, charged with mundic/; cropping up between walls of sandstone, with a considerable amount of lime, which is the best indication that has appeared in the bottom for a long time. The air shaft also is going down, but although so close to the main shaft, the water is a trouble to the contractors, but means will be taken to draw it off, and drive down with this necessary adjunct.
