THE AUCKLAND TURKISH BATHS.

Oar Auckland correspondent writes :— ; I paid a visit to Mr Sykes' baths a few days ago, and after going through the various processes attendant upon taking a bath, I was.not at all surprised to lejarn that the patronage accorded to this health restorer is getting pretty general. Having been a sufferer and sojourner myself in -some of. the adjacent colonies and a

■ supporter of these baths, I can without ■ exaggeration recommend the Auckland ones as being in every respect equal to those of Sydney, or Melbourne, notwithstanding the size,, convenience, and attendance. It is a pleasing feature to witness the number of invalids introduced to the baths by members of the medical profession, and to hear the general commendation which they accord to the proprietor for the benefits which he has conferred upon the community by his energy and enterprise^ _ Many patients who have been benefited by the baths have testified in writing to the immense benefits which they have derived from u>ing them. It is not necessary for me to go giving extracts from these deserved complements, but. you will, I am sure, willingly publish the following; communication which was forwarded to Mr .Sykes by" an eminent member of the medical faculty. An enlargement of the premises is now being made witijthe addition of a sulphur room, and to add to the convenience of male patrons a smoking room has been fitted up. Here

is the- lettej'-;—

" Auckland, October 1, .1875 I have much pleasure in being able to tear testimony to the excellent in.anney in which &iv £. D. Syiies has constructed and fitted his. Turkish hydropathic institution ' here. I consider it equal, as regards' the cleanliness, and ventilation, to the best inIptution of the kind I have visited in London, America; the East, and in MelbQurne, or Sydney. Indeed, the method pf cre^nliness*iandyentilationis s if anything, superior, and all that can be desired by th.c medical, profession or invalid. : So pleased am I with all I have seen, and by the gentlemanly courtesy of the proprietor, that I could not help volunteering a lesson upon the Eastern luxurious method of shampooing, which is so highly beneficial to the nervous and muscular system of the human body.-'.'' I may also say that, from the perfect ventilation arrived at in * these baths, I consider that there is 30 fear to be apprehended even by the most oe.l|cately: cpnstijiuted 'invalids; but am. .fluitg stire tha^ ;pers.o,ns sufferling. from, chpst or liver- -diseases will derive a great benefit from them. During a practice of 18 years I have used- the Turkish Baths for every disease the human body is liable . to, and by its means have the happiness to say that I have saved numerous lives, and prolonged their term of existence. I look upon it as one of the greatest blessings giyen by the kind Creator for his creatures' comfort and well-being.~l arp, &c,., B.'lju^^Eß^ Surgeon o^ t)pard 'the E.M." |;s^lfacgi:e!gor?-' '■ ' ■ V rvThVs speaks volumes in fayoi^r of the baths.. YpH'r readers will not expect me tp gp thcironghly into the minutse, but I ifth with full confidence reconameiicl those

afflicted with diseases of the kind alludec to in the advertisement which appear; elsewhere, to give the baths a trial, anc decide for themselves as to their imtnensi healing properties. ]
