We are requested, in order to correct a wrong impression conveyed to some minds by a paragraph in the morning paper, to state that Mr Renshaw had not the key of the Bright Smile safe until yesterday, when it was sent to him anonymously enclosed in an envelope. Mr Eenshaw supposes it was sent to him as a Trustee of the Building Society, the purchasers of the safe, and on receipt the key was at once given up.
It will be seen that Mr W. Blood will preach in the Karaka School Eoom tomorrow evening.
Yesterday, being the oth of November, the boys as usual made feeble attempts at a demonstration. In one place we noticed a Guy Fawkes, and it was certainly a guy". On some of the hills overlooking the town fires were lit, but they did not appear to be very well supplied with fuel, and quickly succumbed. On the Shortland beach some boys made an attempt at a bonfire, but the enthusiasm was very feeble, and at an early hour the celebrants of the anniversary of Gunpowder Plot gave in. to the depressing influences of the weather and let their fires out.
A Provincial Government Gazette published on Thursday contains a statement of the Account of the Province of Auckland for .the quarter ended 30ih September, 1875, notices of sittings of the -Native Lands Court to be held, and notifications under the Education and Highways Acts.
