The Thames Water Race.
Mr Sinclair, the Chief of the Confiscated Lands Department, Auckland, and who so successfully and impartially completed the necessary papers and documents for the right of entry and occupation of various lands in the Province, required by the General Government for railways, telegraphic and other purposes, is expected here in a day or two. for the purpose of arranging and settling, in conjunction with Mr Aitken, the Resident Engineer, various interests connected with the properties through which the" Waterworks are now being extended and completed for the benefit of the Thames inhabitants. We feel sure that in selecting Mr Sinclair for this special business, the Government hav# appointed a gentleman who will discharge its important ■ duties in a manner alike creditable to himself and to the satisfaction of everyone concerned.
