ATHLETIC CARNIVAL

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9ih, 1875. THE Proprietor of Ellerslie Gardens announces that on the Prince of Wales' Birthday he will give Valuable Prizes for Athletic Competitions to come off in the Gardens on that day. The principal prize will bo THE BIRTHDAY CUP, VALUE £50. Thi3 will be competed for in three running handicaps of 100 yards, 300 yards, and 880 -yards. For running first in any of the races 6 points will be allowed, for running second 4 points, and for running third 2 points. The Competitor scoring the highest to'al of points in the three races will receive the first priz", £25 in money, and a Valuable Silver Cup presented by Mr Joseph Eiiis, Exchange Hotel, Queen street. A second aggregate prize of £8, and a third of £5 will also be given.

In addition to the aggregate prizes, first and second prizes of £3 and £1 respectively will be awarded at each distance,

Entries, with fee of 10s, and the Competu tors' bailing-place and colors, to be sent to the Secretary and Handicapper, Mb A Kino, care of Mr J. Ellis, Exchange Hotel, on or before Satubday, 23rd October, at 9 p.m. Any one entering under a false name will be disquuliiied. The Handicaps will bo published as coon as possible after the closing of the entries. 1113
