.Pabawaj, 2.20 p.m. The first cricket match of the season was commenced at Parawai to-day it 215.

Th.c Eleven put in the Twenty-two, Messrs Donovan and Lodge appearing at the wickets to the bowling of Messrs Steedman and Paul.

The field was disposed as follows;—• Eobinscn, point; Colson, wicket keeper; Crawford, long-leg and M off; ifrasaey, M on and third man: Whitford, M off and L leg; Bull, long-stop; Crump, short leg; Wardell, cover point; the wicket is good. (This message had been deliberately nibbled by the feathered messenger, and its deciphering was partly guess work).
