Determined Mill in the Home District.
A fight, or rather, a succession of fights, took place in' the Borough to-day, and though the sponge was not thrown up for either side, for the simple reason that there was no sponge at hand to throw, yet the mark s left on the frontispiece of one of the combatants left little doubt as to who would hare been the victor. It seems that the unsecured creditors of the BJight Smile having requested that all effects might be handed over to the Bank of New Zealand, the quicksilver was orderedtob* removed for safe keeping. While it was being thus conveyed, one Quinlivari a carter, whois a creditorof the Bright Smile made an attempt to receive his dues by force, and rushed at the quicksilver. Mr Kennan we hear was his first antagonist, but Quinlivan, not relishing the treatment he received at his hands, made his next attack on Mr Benney the mine manager, but here again he was both foiled and felled, and the quicksilver taken in safety to the bank while he Was safely deposited on the ground, and subsequently taken into the safe custody of a policeman.
