MINING COMPANY MEETINGS.

Grown G-.M.Co. (Tairua.) An extraordinary meeting of shareholders in the Crown Gr.M.Co. was held at the Pacific Hotel last night, most of the shares being represented. Mr T. Adams occupied the chair, and explained the business of the meGting, which was to elect directors and adopt rules; Messrs. S, Turtle. W; Logan, T. Adams, T. Bawdon, and J. Logan were elected directors, with the understanding that one of the Messrs Logan would retire in favor pf Mp 'Wm. Howe. The rules adopted are similar to those in use by the Britannia and other claims. The appointment of Mr J. A. Chapman aa lega;l manager was confirmed. The following report from the mine manager was read:—" Gentlemen.—Since I took charge of your company's mine, which if as in the «arly part of July, before

commencing mining operations, I bad to build a but for the men, after the completion, of which I commenced surfaceprospecting, and found a short distance above the hut large blocks of quartz that yielded splendid prospects, also some nice specimen stone lower down the hill. Those, I presume, 1 came from the Bisk or Ajax reef; if not, from some other reef going through your company's ground. Some of this stone you may have seen at the office of the Messrs Frater. In fact I found all stone in that locality goldbearing. This induced me to put in a low level to intersect the lodes from which this stone came; so I applied to the National' Company for permission to put a level through their ground, also for use of a mullock tip, which they readily granted. The tunnel is already in a distance of 60 feet, through good sandstone country, such that tie pick and gad is all that is required in lakiug it out. Aftpr I -got through the National Company's- ground and about 3 feet in ours, I cut a leader about 18 inches thick, which showed fair prospects. Since then several small leaders have been cut. I fpekon that you will have to drivo a distance of 200 feet before the Ajax reef is cut, from the bearings taken by the Ajax and National Companies' managers ad myself, and that you will have available 100 feet of backs, at the point where the reef will be intersected. T Should the stone at this level prove as rich as that found on the surface, and the lodes as large as in the Ajax mine, your mine wilt be valuable indeed.— I am, &c, Thomas Logan, Mining Manager.''
