GOLDEN CALF.
The necessary work of opening into the Otago workings has made good progress. The drive is within the limits, but 10 feet lies yet to be cut through. Mr Pearson, however resigns and his place will be occupied by Mr T. Dunlop, of the Manukau, on^ Saturday next, who will also retain position as Inspector of the Manukau. Mr Dunlop's fame will not be lessened by the transfer, and under his management the Calf will doubtless prosper. A crushing of 30 or 40 tons is now being reduced.
