REPLY TO "VOLUNTEER."
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Siß,—ln the issue of this morning's Advertiser I notice a letter signed, " A Volunteer," remarking upon a local which appeared in that paper having reference to a telegram received by Captain Brassey from Wellington, in regard to the long-looked-for carbines which the JNaval Brigade were informed they might expect. He says that it is a very curious reason, certainly, why "we " may look " for our new rifles." I take it that it is no reason why the " immortal we " should look for rifles, because there is no reason to interpret it other than that the telegram referred only to the carbines for the Naval Brigade, and sufficient was doubtless contained in the telegram received to convince them that they would shortly receive the I would advise " A Volunteer " alot to'rush into print in such a hurry, or "^meddle with matters not connected with his own family circle.—-Yours. &c, ' Jam Stick.
