WELLINGTON.
This day. Opposition Compromise Absolutely Declined. The proposals made by the Opposition, that the Abolition Bill be proceeded with and fairly considered in Committee and as amended finally passed without further opposition, in consideration that the Act shall not come into operation until the Governor be moved thereto by address of both Houses during next session, have been definitely and absolutely declined by the Government party this morning. The Opposition also held a caucus, but it is believed without coming to any definite decision.
