: August 9. The Rev. C..8. Syness has declined to withdraw his resignation as pastor of the Stow Memorial Church; it is proposed to seek in the colonies for a successor before sending to England. V
;-■ August 12. Wheat is difficult to obtain at ss, and only so for shipping lots. The Government purchased 2000 copies of the Register's sketch of the colony for distribution in England, and will also send a fortnightly telegram home for publication in the Times and English papers about the colony. , . :
August 13. Mr Mawker contends that the proposed railways will cost nearer £3,000,000 than £2,000,000.
