ABOLITION MEETING AT PUKEKOHE.
At a meeting of the electors of Puke? kohc East, to consider the Abojitjqn, ao4 Lqca.l Government gills, the following resolutions aro reported to have: been carried unanimously :—
•'That, being of opinion that the time to abolish the provinces had arrived, this meeting considers the proposed bills, if carried into law, will be fatal to the best interests of Auckland. We therefore advise the matter to be deferred until the next session, in order that the electors in general may have an opportunity of expressing their views upon the question at issue, and that the chairman of the Board telegraph the same to M^ssr^ ssuc.klancf and May, and Sir! George Grey," '"■ That a vote of thanks be passed to Bir George Grey for the independent manner in which he was standing up for the people of the province of Auckland."
