Defendant said he was a hard working man and not a loafer. He had a few glasses of beer. Mr Bullen said when defendant was last before tlio Court he was in a state of delirium treinensjdnd had been cautioned then that if he came before the Court

again he would be punished severely. There were twenty convictions against him.

His Worship admonished the defendant severely and told him that he ought td avoid drink. as he would poison. He (defendant) had been twice before that Court in a state of lunacy, giving- trouble and requiring medical attendance; . Defendant pleaded hard to be let off with one more trial. He believed, he could reform if allowed ; he had done so once 18 years ago. His Worship said he could go, but he must distinctly understand that if: he came before ihim again he weuld certainly give him twelvemonths imprisonment.
