Block 5A Grievance.
We learn that Captain Fraser will commence an investigation to-morrow into the circumstances connected with Slock sa, which has long been a standing grievance. It will be remembered that soon after the opening, of the goldfield certain persons took up residence sites on Block da,, which was afterwards claimed as part of IVfr Robert Graham's purchase, and residence site certificates were never issued. The matter was brought before successive Superintendents, and once or twice before the Assembly. - The late Superintendent, we believe, requested Captain Eraser to enquire into the matter, but the opening of Ohinemuri and Tairua has so occupied his time that the matter has never been gone on with. It will, however, be proceeded with to-morrow, the object being to discover, supposing the Government should recognise any claims for compensation, who are the parties entitled to such compensation. The statements of the persons interested will be heard at the Warden's Office tomorrow, the enquiry to commence after the, conclusion of the Resident Magistrate's Court business.
