THE COLIBAN.
This ground, held and worked by the Company under the direction of Mr Littlejohn, has made a capital start, sending down by tramway, to the Moanatairi,battery a parcel of 29J tons, which has resulted in the satisfactory'yield of 67 ounces 10 dwts .retorted .gold. • Considerable difficulty exists, and expense is incurred in forwardiqg •. atone froni the mine, (especially in wet weather) from the several handlings it has to go'through. The manager, however, is of opinion, that thejreef or reefs in hand will pay well for crushing, and, is now busy getfc:ng out more stone from the reef supplying the late crushing, in addition to which, an opening has beennjade lower down the hill, on a good looking" reef, which has to be driven on some distance to determine whether.it is the same reef as already worked," or a separate ono, which is known to exist not far from the footwall of the former.
