DIRECTORS' QUALIFICATIONS.
It is proposed to institute, competitive examinations of persons desirous of becoming directors, secretaries^ or promoters of public companies. Should the papers (of ■which tbe following are specimens) be answered satisfactorily, the candidates will be immediately eligible for employment in the city. ,; ; ; .-.
EXAMINATION" PAPEK JFOB DIRECTORS. 1. What is your. qualification for the post ?' Have you been {a) a member of the Government of the British Timbuctoo. (b) the parliamentary representative of tho free and independent electors of Bribeborough; (c) a managing director of the Herne Boy American and Spanish Credit Financier Company ? "2. Do you know anything of the busi; ness of'the company of which you desire to become a director ? If you are forced to answer this question in the affirmative, state any extenuating circumstances that may occur to you. 3. Give your method for examining the books of a company without looking at the items or testing the totals. 4. Explain the theory of " How not to do it ? " and give a table of what you consider reasonable directors' fees. 5. How many qualifying shares will you require in return for your name and in payment for your trouble. 2. Can you undertake that your nominee shall give no trouble at the meetings of the Board P
3. Do you thoroughly understand Financial Cookery in all its branches P 4. Do you know how to dress, up a minute-book ?
5. How much do you charge per annum for holding your tongue, and shutting your eyes ?.
EXAMINATION PAPER FOR SKCBETAHIES
1. How many times hnve you been a bankrupt? 2. Do you thoroughly understand the various methods of evading payment of a county court summons? 3. Show to the satisfaction of ihe examiners that 2 added to 3 amounts to 7.
4. Write out prospectunes of ike following companies, proving them all to be the most lucrative investment that have ever been submitted to an intelligent public ; — ■
(a) The Goodwin Sands Railway Company. {b) The North Pole Wine Manufacturing Company. (c) The Swiss Sea Salt Company. (d) The TWoon and Stars Diamondfields Company.
5. State the countries under extradition treaties with Kngland; ■■■(?>) tlio offences cognisable under such treaties respectively and (c) given a financial emergency, describe on. the map the most expeditious and secret route to Spain.—Punch.
