A couple of petty thefts. (says the Australasian of the 17th July) amusing for the audacity with which they were committed, were brought under the notice of the City Bench on Friday. The offender was a young man named Thomas Kennedy, who drove a milk cart. Another milk^vendor having to gcr upa right-of-way to serve.a customer, left his large can of milk on the footpath, and Kennedy driving by, was struck by a happy thought, and, stopping his horse, got out, emptied the milk into his own cans,, put down the empty vessel, and jumping into his cart, again drove off, just as the other milkman bobbed round the corner.. Pursuing his journey, Kennedy, drove past a spot, where two cabmen were fighting, and as he observed .that they had taken their coats off, and thrown them.' aside, he pulled up, jumped down, whipped up the better of the two 'coata, and, remounting, drove off, with both cabmen in full cry after him. He was sentenced to four months' imprisonment.
