AUCKLAND.

This day. At the Police Court to-day, George Rayjjwas sentenced to a month's imprisonment for stealing fowls. The charge against Evans, landlord of the Pacific Hotel, for selling drink on Sunday, was brought on. Two constables deposed to seeing ale supplied to two' women of indifferent character, and they admitted receiving it at the time. Defendant called the womea for the defence, andthey denied the constables' statement flatly. The case was dismissed.
