3.2) p.m. The House of Eepresentatives met at 2.30 p.m. '- Mr Eeid moved the secjud reading of t?ie Kaitangata JKaUway and CcalCom* pany Bill. Mr Richardson hoped the b;U would be referred for a few days, as toe Government intended bringing down a general measure to facilitate this description of undertaking. ■ The Till was read a second time.
Sir George Grey presented a petition from the inhabitants of the ihamei, alleging that they had been deprived of certain rights unjustly, and praying for an enquiry. He also presented a petition for a branch railway from the inhabitants of Make til. .
A number of other petitions were also presented for different public works.
