THE ABOLITION OF THE PROVINCES.

(To the Editor of the Evening Siar.) Sib, —I believe the above subject should be decided by the people and not by the General Assembly, -because the people would then have power to return to Parliament such men as would pass an act to give the local Government power to rectify any abuse of power on the rights of the people, committed either by tie General or local Government; as it is, by abolishing the Provinces we place ourselves more completely in the power of the General Government than ever, and I, for one, do not. believe in selling our birthright for a mess of postage. Pollen street, August 16th.
