ELDORADO-TAIRUA.
Some few weeks since, the shartholderi of this property forwarded a sample of stone for test purposes to QuintYßeduction Works, and the proof was equal to 4 ounces to the ton. The directors, however, determined upon a further trial, and with the view of realising the average result to be expected upon largo parcels treated in the ordinary way, had one ton forwarded to Puriri for shipment to Grahamstown. • This was found to be 18 cwt (one bag being forgotten), and crushed at tlie Tramway mill, under the charge of the company's,manager,,Mr Craighe&d. The result is that most of the gold has been obtained off the platef, some from the berdan, but the last of the tailings were not treated, as occupying more time than they were worth. The retort gave 2 ounces 1 dwt. of gold, or 1 ounce 18 dwts. melted; this return from the position and size of the reef is esteemed very £pod.
