Mr Macdonald for plaintiff; Mr Tyler for defendant. . , Mr Macdonald having briefly stated"' the case, called— Mary Newson, who scorned the ordinary mode of stating a cause of complaint in a law suit, and considering her counsel's method of eliciting evidence might be improved on, proceeded to give His Worship a long resume of her wrongs and grievances remarkable for its volubility, from which it appeared that she was naturally of a most pacific nature, and never quarrelled with any one except her husband, which as she remarked was of no concern to any save they twain. Having stated what she considered sufficient for his Worship she informed Mr Tyler she would answer no more questions and departed from the box. bhe was, however, prevailed on to enter it again, and still adhered to. her statement that sho was as good as any one else—a Mrs Beattie also followed in her steps and course of action—whereupon Mr Tyler said he thought that it was unnecessary to proceed -further with the case as it was evidently only an ordinary dispute in which both parties were equally to blame. * . " His Worship took, the same view and dismissed the charge. . . .
