MOANATAIRI.
Tlie returns from this mine have been of a poor character for the past month, but,; from the appearance of reefs in hand, indications are fardrablo, and a better yield may be looked for. The! manager, Mr Comer, has of late been engaged drying ; from the tunnel level, a cross-cut, heading south-east, following the course of a leader known as Wallis's; this has been cut off by a slide, and in searching for its continuation he came upon! a large body of quartz, six feet wide, but; poor looking ; this has been driven on a! considerable distance, showing, an im-| provement in its quaility, gold showings occasionally, the footwall portion of it looking well.. This reef appears to be the well known lodes, No. ■ 9 and Heldt's, junctioned, and bids fair to give profitable employment to the stampers for a long
time. The position may be stated as 100 feet to the west of the old Redan shaft, with 100 feet backs, and judging from its present course, nearly north and south, there will bo fully 200 feet to drive before it leaves the M.oanatairi ground and enters the Kelly boundary.
