LONG DRIVE.
The usual monthly cleaning up took place a day earlier than usual, and from the amount of amalgam gathered pfevious to retorting a return of 700 ounces of gold was expected, but the yield fell short, of this by 110 ounces. The result of the month's transaction, however, is excellent for 5 head stampers only. With 400 lbs specimens reduced at the single stamper, the turn out has proved 590 ounces, giving 580 ozs 6 dwts melted gold. The difference between the estimate and the product may be attributed to the weather. The crushings as usual were at the Moanatairi mill.
