CEMETERY COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Committee of the Shortland and Tafftru Cemeteries was held yesterday evening in the Borough Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Messrs Eenshaw; Brodie, and Spencer. Mr Macfarland, the surveyor, laid before ,the meeting his plans for laying out the walks and approaches of Tararu Cemetery, and the walks ahd approaches of the new part' of Shortland Cemetery. The plans which had reference .to Tararu were adopted, and the plans concerning - Shortland postponed to be considered by a future meeting. The policy of obtaining a fresh piece of ground contiguous to the cemetery, instead of that recently purchased, was also discussed, and it was agreed that Spencer and Brodie should go with Mr Macfarland to-morrow morning to Shortland, to see how far the plans proposed by Mr Maefarland, as regards the walks and general laying out of the the cemetery could be advantageously carried out.
