TAIRUA COMPANY.

The retorting of the amalgam obtained from the 5 cwt. stone brought from a reef 8 feet wide in the Company's ground was not completed till late last night, owing to the presence of the manager being required at the Warden's Court, but the result has proved beyond all cavil that the ground is pre-eminently rich. Reefs that produce upwards of 40 ounces to the ton speak for themselves, and the'genuineness of the samples and mode of the treatment may be relied upon. The 23^ ounces amalgam returned from the retort 12 ounces of gold, a very high percentage, (one third been reckoned very good) which on melting it the National Bank gave the finished and gratifying result of 11 ounces 5 dwts 6 grains.
