THEATRE ROYAL.

At this theatre last night the De Lias Company played "Hunted Down; or, The Two Lives of Mary Leigh," to a moderate house* The piece .was", however, notwithstanding the indifferent attendance and miserable "state of tbe weather, performed conscientiously, and the audience were not slow in bestowing applause frequently during the evening. Miss May. Howard, who has completely ingratiated herself into the favor of Thames theatre-goers, enacted the role of Mary Leigh, and acted with characteristic taste and finish. Miss.Stephenson took the part of Clara, in which that lady fell nothing short of what is expected of an actress who has made so many successful appearancesbefore colonialaudiences. The other parts were well sustained. A farce " Two Heads "followed, and caused great amusement; as may be imagined when we state that the different characters were impersonated by Messrs Sam Poole and Oily Deering, Mrs Jones, Miss Patty= Holt, and Mr Sweeney. The farce is an old one, but like vintage, suffers Dothing by age, and the roars of laughter from the audience during its enactment was sufficient evidence of its effect. To-night Miss May iloward takes a benefit, and will appear in what is stated'to. be her favorite and most brilliant impersonation, namely, a3 Romeo, in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Miss Stephenson will play Juliet, and will, no doubt, give the part, an able and careful rendering. It would be difficult to choose a cast more likely to " take" than that chosen for "Romeo and Juliet " to-night. A good house may be looked for.
