QUERIES.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star) Sir, —Would you be kind enough to answer the following queitions :— 1. What ought the burgesess of the Thames reasonably to expect in return for the amount of rates they pay ? 2. Is it possible to do away with; the Borough Council and revert to the old system of highway boards, now that it has been proved that we have got to paj more rates and get less in return ? 3. What are the inhabitants* of. the Karaka and Hape Creeks about that" they don't ask the Borough Council to awist them in making good roads to their creaks as their interests are identical with ours P But they appear to be wanting a man that has got cheek enoughto ask it for them; * 4. Is it the intention of the Borough Council to give a valuer £25 and then vote £50 more to the Town Clerk to do the work, as the advertis«ment "doe? not say a word about that, and it does'seem strange to me that they should only want to give £25 for what thej gave £150 last' year ?—I am, &c, .. Sceapkb. " Rolleston street, June 28th, 1875.
