PRIZE FIRING.
The Snider rifle presented to. N"o. 2 H.R.V. by Captain Hazard was again fired for on Saturday, and some little interest was attached to this competition, the terms being that the rifle had to be won three times by one man before it became his property, and as the previous winners were Stockdale twice, Kemp twice, Paul twice, McGrath once, and' Morrison once. In the event of either of the first three winning, it became his property. Kemp and Stcckdale fired in the morning, and tied with 42 points, the highest scores made by the morning squad. In the afternoon a new member of the Company made also 42 points, but was beaten by Sub Lieutenant Paul with the good scoro of 48 points, his last shot being a miss. Ho thus wins the rifle. Scores were as follows :—
